I pretty only buy bulk brown rice and quinoa, steel cut oats, kale, sweet potatoes, coconut milk and whatever fresh veggies are on sale (oh. and chocolate). I spend maybe $15/week on groceries and I'm never hungry. People are silly.Laurenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13490247530475216968noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4093476615153423637.post-10951604196060050772009-02-05T12:40:00.000-05:002009-02-05T12:40:00.000-05:00i think borscht is in this category, i made a pot ...i think borscht is in this category, i made a pot last night, clearing the kitchen of all the stuff that needed "eating up" like some celery that was just starting to get limp etc. i pretty much disreguarded the recipe amounts and just stuck to the structure what i ended up with is a huge and amazingly tasty pot of soup for probably 2 bucks worth of produce that would have to be tossed in one or 2 more days.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13130502866025901759noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4093476615153423637.post-63351525319124448552009-01-26T11:06:00.000-05:002009-01-26T11:06:00.000-05:00Exactly, Kim. (and bring your bag - don't load your cart with plastic :)

As for tofu.. I love it. Since when I finally mastered cooking it, that is. I buy organic tofu - 19oz for $1.19 in Trader Joe's and think it's a good deal. Where can one buy organic meat for that price?dashahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02642438439711735435noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4093476615153423637.post-16966094163611800222009-01-20T12:39:00.000-05:002009-01-20T12:39:00.000-05:00The skin is most definitely edible, one it's cooke...The skin is most definitely edible, one it's cooked. And then there're chickpea cutlets.

Now... the plantains... you eat the skin? Or is that just left on for cooking?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
